François Gniane (d. 2 December 2017)

Dear Colleagues,

It is with great sadness that I have to announce the death of our colleague Nabarou François Gniane in Jamtoli, Bangladesh, where he was working as Watsan with an OCBA team providing assistance to the tens of thousands of Rohingya refugees living there.

François started working with MSF back in September 2014. He first joined MSF OCB’s response to the Ebola outbreak in Guinea. Afterwards, he worked in Niger, CAR and Conakry. Bangladesh mission was his first one with MSF OCBA.

François is described by his colleagues and friends as an extremely committed and skilled MSF team member that always looked after MSF beneficiaries and MSF colleagues. He leaves behind a wife and three children.

I wish to convey, on behalf of the entire MSF family, our appreciation for François and express our deepest condolences, thoughts and solidarity to his wife, children, relatives and friends, to whom we want to accompany in this very difficult time.

May his soul rest in peace.
