I was born a guard

I was born a guard
I am a guard by profession,
I was born a guard,
How to catch a thief,
How to secure properties and personnel,
I don’t have a friend,
I was born a guard.

I am well experienced in security,
Then none can cheat me,
Reporting for duty on time,
Proper taking over and handing over duties,
As well as conducting patrols whenever on duty,
Is my responsability,
I was born a guard.

God gave me a profession,
When I was in my mother’s womb,
I was born a guard.

Wherever my mum was going,
I had to accompany her,
Securing her life,
I was born a guard.

Soon after my birth,
At the age of five,
Keeping on securing my mother,
I was born a guard.

Since the age of ten,
Hearing about MSF Belgium,
To secure the expats,
As well as national staff and properties,
Was my choice by heart,
I was born a guard.

Even intruders had to go very far,
Away from my work location,
If they knew I am the one on duty,
I was born a guard.

After twenty years working with MSF,
I decided to retire,
I was born a guard.

After my retirement,
I will develop my profession by securing my family,
I was born a guard.

Being alert and conducting patrols when darkness falls in my compound,
Will be my responsibility,
I was born a guard.

Being in fear of intruders and witches,
Who can steal my wife and children,
Massive patrols will be conducted,
I was born a guard.

For you to be witness of my profession,
Come home during odd hours and you will see,
Because I will catch you,
I was born a guard.
