Vandi Braima (d. 7 September 2014)

Dear All,

Vandi Braima, Team Leader Gondama Health Center, in Bo, Sierra Leone, passed away the 7th of September 2014. We referred him to the Emergency Hospital in Freetown as he needed an urgent surgical intervention. He died during the pre-operative preparation. This is again a very sad event for the Bo team.

Vandi was 54 and leaves behind a wife and 4 children. He started to work with MSF 9 years ago. He first worked for OCP for 3 years as a pharmacist, and after that he joined OCB in our outreach project. Since 2009 he has been working in the GHC as the U5 supervisor.

He was a colleague we appreciated greatly, who will be deeply missed.

Petra Alders,
Emergency Field Coordinator ad interim
Gondama Referral Centre (GRC)- Bo District
Sierra Leone

Braima Vandi is not anymore with us.

The unforgettable memories he left with us, such as his respectful, humbleness, punctuality, honesty and spirit of hard work are still alive.

His image will always be in our mind and eyes, especially when we have our monthly clinic meeting which he used to chair.

His love and services to children and advice to colleagues can never be forgotten. One of his advice that we will always remember is “guys, take your job seriously”.

We wish his family strength and may Almighty Allah have mercy on him in Paradise.

For MSF team in Bo,
Yayah Mambu, Nurse, GRC
